Jill Oakley has served on the Albertville City Council since 2012, bringing over a decade of dedicated public service to her hometown. Born and raised in Albertville, she is deeply committed to enhancing quality of life for residents through her focus on community enrichment initiatives.
Her council work emphasizes improvements in key areas including parks and recreation (SMPA), the Albertville Parks & Recreation Foundation, Albertville Museum, Public Library, Senior Center, City Schools, and the Keep Albertville Beautiful program. Jill also serves as President of the Albertville Parks & Recreation Foundation and is a member of the Capital Planning Committee for Albertville City Schools.
Jill holds a Master of Science in Biology and Chemistry from Samford University. Prior to entering public service, she worked as an instructor at Snead State Community College and served as the Quality Control Lab Manager for the former Gold Kist Poultry.
A Certified Municipal Public Official Emeritus, the highest professional certification that local government officials can earn, Jill represents Albertville on statewide committees for the Alabama League of Municipalities, including the Committee on Economic Development (CED) and previously the Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources Committee (EENR). She also serves on the board of directors for Marshall County RSVP.
Her past civic involvement includes leadership roles with the Albertville High School Band Boosters, Show Choir officers, and the Civitans Club. She is also a 2015 graduate of Marshall County Leadership Challenge. A member of Albertville First Baptist Church, Jill has been married for 39 years to Rodger Oakley, pharmacist at Marshall Medical Center South. They have two adult children: Ryan, who holds a Doctorate of Pharmacy, and Lauren, who holds an MS, and is a Registered Dietician specializing in eating disorders.
In her free time, Jill enjoys boating, fishing, beach travel, and playing pickleball!
