Jimmy F. Carnes is the City Attorney for Albertville and has represented it for 23 years. Born in Albertville, he graduated from Albertville High School, the University of Alabama, and the University of Alabama Law School. Between undergraduate school and law school, he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany with the 1st Armored and 4th Armored Divisions.

Law Practice
He has practiced law for 40 years and was a partner with his father T.J. Carnes for many years. In addition to municipal law, his practice centers on probate, real estate, and general civil matters. He served as the Marshall County Attorney for several years and presently represents the Boaz Housing Authority. His brother Ed Carnes is the Chief Judge for the United States Court of Appeals of the 11th Circuit.

Community Activities
He is a member of the Museum Board, the Museum Foundation, long-time Commander of the local American Legion Post, Secretary/Treasurer of the Marshall County Bar Association (and former President), and former President of the Albertville Historical Society, Sand Mountain Civitans and Albertville Library Board.

His wife Sharon and he are both 4th Degree Black Belts in Yoshukai Karate and spend several hours training each week. They also enjoy traveling and taking care of their animals - dogs and cats.
