APD recently announced their enthusiasm to host the 2024 US Police Canine Association's Region 22 Field Trials, where teams from Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee will certify and compete with their K-9 teams. Sponsorship opportunities are available.

Letter from Albertville Police Chief, J.T. Cartee:

I am pleased to inform you the Albertville Police Department K-9 Unit will host the 2024 United States Police Canine Association's Region 22 Certification Trials June 16-20. The competitive trials will be held at various locations across the City of Albertville and will cover the specialties of obedience, evidence recovery, suspect searches, criminal apprehension, and narcotics detection. All events, with the exception of narcotics detection, will be open to the public to attend. These certifications are required for all police canine units, measuring their reliability for court and providing training accountability. We anticipate 25-40 canine teams and family members from Alabama and surrounding states. We will be hosting them at the Hampton Inn in Albertville.

We are asking our community for assistance with making this event successful. We seek to raise $8,000 for expenses associated with this event, such as venue rental and morning, noon, and evenings meals for each day, which will include a banquet and awards ceremony and dinner for approximately 75 people. Additionally, we will need $1,500 for a tee shirt sponsorship. All of our donors will receive recognition on our program and itinerary as well as on a banner displayed at our nightly dinners and the awards ceremony.

We greatly appreciate the support of our community and business leaders. Our department's mission is to preserve life and property, and our canine partners provide us with the best chance to succeed. The opportunity to host this event will enable us to showcase our city and bring in tax revenue from guests visiting. We are incredibly excited to host this event and are looking forward to partnering with you.

Thank you in advance for your support. If you have any questions or would like to assist us, please contact my Administrative Assistant, Autumn Bearden, by email, or by calling 256-279-0631.
