Reinstatement of Driving Privileges

Huntsville Division (256)536-2386

Defensive Driving School

Defensive Driving School is an alternative to consider after receiving a minor traffic citation. Defensive Driving School (hereinafter, DDS) allows the defendanct, upon completion, to have the citation dismissed with payment of court cost. The court cost is $133.00. The defendants driving record will show that the citation was given but dismissed.

There are provisions for those who can attend the Defensive Driving School. Some of the provisions are as follows:

*Defendant received a citation for a minor traffic offense
*Defendant has not completed a Defensive Driving School within the past two years.

The DDS is held at the Albertville Recreation Center. When attending the class, the defendant needs to take $25.00 in cash with them to give to the instructor. The defendant also needs to be punctual due to the doors being locked immediately after the class begins. This is so other students will not be distracted. The DDS is a four-hour class.

Before any defendant is allowed to attend the school, the defendant must come to our office to pick-up DDS form and to continue court date if needed.
