Message from the Chief of Police

Chief Benny Womack

The most important function of government is the safety and protection of it's citizens. Embracing this philosophy, the Albertville Police Department strives to continue making our growing community one of the safest cities of it's size in Alabama. As our city continues to grow, our citizens are the greatest resource our community has in keeping our crime rate low.

The Albertville Police Department maintains strong ties with its citizens by utilizing community oriented policing methods to address problems and prevent crime.

A proactive network of of neighborhood watch groups located throughout the city accomplishes this. The department is actively involved in establishing these groups of citizens and continues to support them with crime prevention information. Other outreach programs sponsered by the department include the citizen police academy, and personal safety programs. Members of the Albertville Police Department also impact the lives of our youth through the D.A.R.E program, and the school resource program.

The men and women of the Albertville Police Department are well-trained professionals dedicated to keeping our community safe. Some of the more recent programs and services added to our department include a full time training officer, four certified canine officers and handlers, and a full time traffic enforcement officer. Employees of the Albertville Police Department are committed to a proactive approach to crime prevention that ultimately makes our community a place where people feel safe to live, work, and play. This commitment further defines the phrase 'to protect and serve'.
