Guidelines
1. To ensure timely collection, containers must be placed on the curb by 7:00 a.m. on the day of collection.
2. All residential customers must use the 96 gallon container provided by the City of Albertville.
3. Containers may only be used for the disposal of household garbage.
4. Containers must not contain hazardous waste. (Ex: shingles, paint, chemicals, tires, batteries or other hazardous materials.)
5. Containers should be placed at least five feet away from obstructions such as power lines and parked cars.
6. Containers must be placed no more than two feet from the curb with the lid opening toward the street.
Automated Garbage Collection
All residential garbage collection utilizes automated garbage collection, which is different from the traditional collection process. Automated collection uses a vehicle equipped with a hydraulic arm that will grab, lift and dump the contents of the can into the hopper of the truck without the driver or additional employees having to leave the cab of the truck. Automated collection has become an industry standard because it is much safer for the employees and more efficient.
Vegetative Debris
All vegetative debris to be removed by the city from private residences shall be placed by the owner or occupier of the residence at the edge of the yard, on the right-of-way or in an accessible place approved by the director of the sanitation department. Vegetative debris consists of grass clippings, tree limbs, leaves, shrubbery and brush and must be neatly piled in such a way that it does not interfere with vehicle traffic or water flow. All limbs must also be trimmed to lengths not exceeding 8 feet long.
Construction or Landscape Debris
The City will not pick up any debris that is created by paid contractors. If general contractors or landscape professionals are utilized on private property, the contractor must dispose of any waste that is generated.
Rubbish
In an effort to keep the City of Albertville free from unsightly debris, the City will not pick up rubbish or non-vegetative debris. Rubbish includes, but is not limited to the following:
· Mattress & box springs
· Appliances
· Furniture (indoor & outdoor)
· Carpet
· Cardboard
· Plumbing & electrical fixtures
· Construction debris

These items must be transported by the property owner or occupant to the designated area located at the City Public Works facility for disposal. The Public Works facility is located at 700 Half Section Line Road and the designated area is accessible Monday – Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Hardship
The City will assist those residents who are physically handicapped or disabled and provide proof from a licensed physician by removing debris and rubbish from their property. However, all rubbish must be placed on the curb or right-of-way before contacting the City for removal. For those residents that are physically capable of removing rubbish from the property but nonetheless request assistance from the City Sanitation Department, the City will remove up to four (4) cubic yards per quarter, approximately twelve (12) feet long by three (3) feet wide by three (3) feet high for a fee of $200 per half trailer load.

Recycling
The City of Albertville promotes the practice of recycling and strongly encourages all residents to carry recyclables to the Albertville Boaz Recycling Center. While it is not economically feasible to provide curbside collection at this time, we hope that all citizens will voluntarily participate in our recycling effort by carrying their recyclables to the Center. For more information regarding the Albertville-Boaz Recycling Center and their capabilities, access the website or contact the Executive Director.
