Mayor's Office

Albertville has a Mayor-Council form of government with a Mayor and five council members that are elected at-large every four years.

The Mayor is the Chief Executive Officer of the City and has general supervision and control over all affairs of the City.   The Mayor also has exclusive authority to supervise and control the administrative personnel of the City. The Mayor is elected to serve four-year terms and is not allowed to vote on measures coming before the City Council.

Lindsey D. Lyons was born in Huntsville but was raised in Guntersville until he transferred to Arab where he graduated from Arab High School in 1974.  While in high school, his family purchased and operated a restaurant which was the beginning of his career in the restaurant business.  Upon graduation, he worked in the restaurant industry at Burger King and McDonalds before he and his father obtained the development rights for Arby's in 1986.  They built and operated four stores and sold all but the one in Albertville in 1986, which he still owns and operates today.

In 2008, Mayor Lyons successfully ran for City Council and was elected President of the City Council.  However, due to a vacancy in the Mayor’s office, Mr. Lyons was appointed Mayor by the City Council and took office in November, 2008.

Mayor Lyons has four children: Lindsey Jr., 30, of Huntsville; Candice, 23, a nursing student at University of Alabama Huntsville; Sam, 12, a sixth grader at Evans Elementary; and Luke, 8, a third grader at Albertville Elementary.
